Those who complete the course, which runs for three hours a day for three weeks starting May 18, will have learned the skills to create a mobile responsive website.

If you’ve found yourself with some time on your hands due to a job furlough during the COVID-19 crisis, Tech Impact is offering a free virtual coding class teaching introductory concepts of software development especially for adults whose employment is affected by the pandemic.

Those who complete the course, which runs for three hours a day for three weeks starting May 18, will have learned the skills to create a mobile responsive website.

In Wilmington, Tech Impact is best known for its free 16-week software training course, ITWorks, for non-college graduates aged 18-26.

“We want to use our resources and skills to help our community. Our hearts go out to those that are out of work in the many industries that have been impacted by the pandemic,” said Patrick Callihan, executive director at Tech Impact. “A short class like this can allow participants to see if this in-demand occupation is a potential future career option for them. It will allow them to explore this field with no risk while practicing social distancing.”

Introduction to Software Development runs May 18 to June 5, Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m., and is open to the first 150 registrants. Those interested in the program can register online.
