CloudGenix Supercharges SD-WAN With Azure Integration

CloudGenix announced an integration between its Autonomous SD-WAN and CloudBlades platform and Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN (vWAN). The company claims the integration will provide remote offices around the world secure, high-speed access to Microsoft’s cloud services.

With this integration, CloudGenix aims to address many of the challenges faced by branch offices as enterprises make the transition to the cloud including poor access to cloud applications, inconsistent user experiences, and overall poor performance.

CloudGenix achieves this by leveraging its CloudBlades platform to create a secure tunnel from a branch office to the nearest Azure region. There, Cloudblades programs Azure to integrate the enterprise WAN with Azure’s network. CloudGenix can then analyzes all the available paths to optimize application delivery.

Unlike other SD-WAN vendors, CloudGenix utilizes application signatures, fingerprints, and requests made to identify applications rather than relying solely on packets.

The approach allows users to define business policies based on the specific application and its use — not just the protocol.

And as an organization migrates new applications to Azure or opens new branch offices, CloudGenix says its technology ensures that the enterprise WAN and Azure are kept synchronized.

“Microsoft Azure Virtual WAN with CloudGenix brings the benefits of the cloud to remote offices worldwide in an automated manner. For the success of cloud projects, it is crucial that remote office users have a great experience accessing cloud applications,” said Ross Ortega of Azure Networking at Microsoft, in a statement. “CloudGenix’s Autonomous SD-WAN and the CloudBlades platform maximize the value of moving to Azure.”

On the Rise

Following CloudGenix latest round of funding this April in which the company raised nearly $65 million, the company has set its sights on displacing industry giants like Cisco.

CloudGenix is seen by many in the industry as a disruptor in the market. In an interview with SDxCentral in July, Brandon Butler, senior research analyst at IDC, said the SD-WAN market could start to see changes vendors like CloudGenix and Versa continue to gain traction.
